Very pleased with the prompt, friendly and professional service given by Kevin and Dale.
Got in contact with Kevin during recent bad weather to get a new boundary fence erected. He was very helpful at the discussion phase highlighting all that was needed and indeed rather than remove the old fence totally he could repair what was left and use as a windbreak for the new one which was great news. He ordered all that was needed having discussed a price and agreed to it. When he arrived he was again very helpful and we couldn't have wished for a better service. I'm happy to recommend A1 home improvements and indeed will be certainly contacting Kevin again should we require further work done in the future.

I have had A1 Home Improvements install up close windows and doors to my home as well as a new flat roof completed in firestone rubber at the same time they removed all my concrete guttering and replaced with pvc. Due to the recent storms we a had an issue with water comming in via a velux window. We had a EPDM flat roof done 4 years ago by Farraday Home Imp and I thought it was ok untill recently when is started to leak, I contacted Firestone who inform me that they were no longer around and put me intouch with A1 Home Improvements and a guy called Kevin, he came out to have alook and found that it had not been installed properly. He has now rectified the substandard workman ship from the previous contractors. We found Kevin to be honest, clean and polite and he did not excessively charge for the repair work.

Had a very severe leak last night in the bad weather. Phoned A1 Home Improvements and spoke with Kevin he came out last night to do a temporary fix and arrive this morning to sort the problem. It had been caused by a previous bad repair by a large local firm, they had not undertaken what they told me they had done. We had a flat roof replaced two months ago now. The roof that was there before leaked badly so decided to get a firestone roof put on had 3 quotes and Kevins was the best one. The roof was completed in November 17 and it is brilliant has solved all our problems. We were advise to insulate whilst it was being renewed and im glad i took the advise the room is alot warmer now.

Kevin and crew came at short notice to attend a worrying dampness in our new bathroom.
Scaffold erected, guttering off, new tantalised wooden facia and PVC facia fitted, problem identified and rectified. All back together again in a day, scaffold gone. No "ooohs or Ahhs" just professionalism.

We had been looking for a conservatory at a price we could afford for quite a while and we had a leaflet put through the door from A1 home improvements. The price seemed really reasonable and expected loads of add ons but the price what we saw was the price that we paid. There were two teams of workers one to do the footings and brick work and one to do the frames and finishing off . They all worked really hard and cleaned up after each stage leaving everything clean and tidy, all very polite and pleasant and worked well as a team. We are pleased beyond our expectations at the quality and the finished result. We would definitely recommend A1 home improvements they are A1 by name and A1 by nature.
Kevin came to give us a quote for repairs to our guttering, he explained what the problem was even photographed the guttering & fascia so that we could actually see the problem for ourself.
We were impressed that he didn't use any technical jargon nor try to talk us into having work done that we didn't need. His quote was very competitive and within a few days the scaffolding was up. I have had A1Home Improvements in this week to widen my back door and to fit a wheel chair axcess door so that I can get in and out in my chair. They have done fantastic job and at a lot less than other company's out there, looking at it you would not know it had been done. They even repainted the outside for me. Kevin Cross was a very experienced builder who installed Guttering,Facias,and Drain pipe at my property just before Christmas. His quality of work was so good that we had him back today to supply and fit a patio door for us. All done at VERY reasonable prices, far less than you would get from any of the bigger,well known companies. He and his assistant were both of a very cheerful disposition. Very poor standard of work resulted in costly repair (by another company) to fix leaking windows installed by owner of A1 Home Improvements. Poor timekeeping and no regard towards Health & Safety. A1 Home Improvements seem keen to take your money up front but not so keen to do a decent job afterwards. Note a couple of 5 star reviews on Google are posted by the owner and his wife. Use them at your peril !
After doing some research whether to have a fibre glass or firestone rubber roof I was advised to go for the firestone rubber roof as it comes with a 20 year guarantee. I am very pleased! Very clean and tidy job and Kevin was very helpful. Would highly recommend to anyone.
We had A1 Home Improvements in to carry out some work for URBN Construction at the Ship ( Western Morning News ) at Derriford. Good price excellent work and finnished ahead of time quoted and under budget. The work done was resealing the glass Atrium at the top of the building.

We have recently had some problems with a flat roof area of our home, we had a look at different types of roofing materials and came across A1 Home Improvements offering a Firestone single sheet product.
They have been and done the job and it looks great all done in one piece so no chance of any seams lifting and allowing water in. After watching A1 Home Improvements do a job down the road from our selves we decided to get a price to do our own home, we had already had a few quotes from other companies in Plymouth and has decided on one but thought we would see what A1 could offer. I had Kevin to do some guttering work a few weeks ago and he did a great job so decided to have him fit some new windows for me . They have now been done and they look lovely. Can't here a thing at night anymore.

We have had our Guttering replaced today and it looks really nice, Kevin has done a really nice job and very quickly we had work done so already had the scaffolding up and decided at the last minute to do it, we contacted a few people but no one would help us out as the scaffold was coming down on Saturday but Kevin said he would change his schedule for the Friday and do it. A man of his word he turned up at 8am and did the job at a very competitive price. I am now considering having a composite door done and will use Kevin service's again for it.

Kevin has done a job for us in the past and we were very happy with it so we got him back to do some guttering work to a property in penny cross for a relative who has just gone into a home. We have over the last two days had our house painted with a very high tec wall covering called wallflex hb, we had several big company's offering to undertake the job at extortionate prices one of the wanted £7500 to do the job we contacted A1 Home Improvements who came highly recommended and the undertook the job using the same product at a 1/4 of the price. The job has now been done and we are very happy with the finished job.
We have a pub in Tavistock and have been having problems with a very large lead dormer roof, we have had several people around to look at it and they all gave us different explanations to why it was leaking and all said it needed to be replace at cost exceeding £3000.00. We were recommended to contact Kevin at A1 Home Improvements and he came over and had a look at the problem he also had a look at the quote that had been given and the reasons given and showed me why the explanations for the problems could not be correct, he is very knowledgeable in what he does which filled me with confidence so I ask for a price to replace the roof which he advised did not need to be done and a repair, both were very reasonable and we went with the repair which has now been completed and we have had no leaks since. Have had Kevin to replace fascia's and soffits on some property's we own and rent out, they had been done about three years ago by another local company but started to get issues and they would not return to put it wright.

We have been having problems with our garage roof for some time and have had a few quotes but they were ranging in and around £1500 to have it done, but could not afford it at the time, then I was given Kevin's number from a friend who had heard about A1 Home Improvements from a work colleague I gave them a call and met with Kevin at my home very promptly and was given a price to do the job at first I thought there must be a mistake as it was over £600 cheaper than what we had previously got from other people then thought as you do that it was being done incorrectly, so mention to Kevin who was more than happy to show us work he had previously done and after a lot of consideration we decided to go with him. Well I'm glad I did, it has been completed today with no fuss or disturbance to us, and it looks great. Just goes to show that the motto " you get what you pay for " does not always apply as we have had a brilliant job done for a lot less than others wanted. Extension / new roof, We have recently had a new extension and roof replaced and we employed the services of A1 Home Improvements after considerable time spent speaking to a lot of different companies and looking at there previous work for other people we decided to go with Kevin, Although he did not do all the work himself he did project manage the work from start to finish, and we both found him to be very particular in everything he did him self or what some one else did. NEW WINDOWS / DOORS we have just had these fitted to our home and we are extremely happy as will always are with A1 Home Improvements, they have done work for us in the past, we would recommend to all our friends family and work colleague's. We have known Kevin from A1 Home Improvements for nearly eight years now and have had all types of jobs done by him, the first was a flat roof to our garage, then a new conservatory roof, also over the years have had new composite doors, windows, flooring we have never had any problems with anything that has been done and have always found Kevin to be very professional in every aspect of his work, We have recently had new sealed units fitted to some of our older windows (not fitted by Kevin ) and nothing has changed he is still as good as he ever was.

Following the great work by A1 home improvements on our roof, we requested their services again to help transform our garden.
As before Kevin listened to our plans, gave sound advice and was on time.
He built new fences, decking, steps and cladding. The materials recommended were of a better standard than most, with a much longer lifespan. Kev and Jack both worked tirelessly and finished in good time.
We have since requested their help again and will continue to do so.
After doing some research including the reviews on this site decided to get Kevin to replace guttering Fascias and soffits,made the right decision,work carried out to a high standard at a competitive price.
I was going to replace the roof in three or four years,but decided to get it replaced by Kevin after seeing the quality of the work he had done for me,and also while the scaffolding was up,happy to say the work is now complete and am very happy with the new roof,only downside remember to cover the loft floor as it makes a bit of a mess,but that was down to me.

We had a flat roof that was in a very bad condition and letting in water at the top of our property, we decided to go with A1 Home Improvements after seeing seven different company's as Kevin the owner seem to be the only one that new about the Firestone Product and he also gave us a lot of advice concerning the options that we had and the pit falls concerning the other products, the other people did not seem as if they wanted to divert from the old fashion felt and fibre glass and when asked about the pit falls concerning there own products were reluctant to give explanation's. We have now had the roof done a few weeks, and have noticed a vast difference in the heat in our bedroom as Kevin installed insulation prior to installing the new roof, I would use Kevin again as he is very professional in the way he covers every area of what he is offering and is not pushy as some companies are. During the recent storms we noticed we were getting damp patches on our outside walls and we contacted two companies one of which was A1 Home Improvements, Kevin came round on the date and at the time arranged to have a look and gave us some advice on what he felt the problem was ( water ingress via the fire walls and gully on our main roof ) which was the same as the other company who were a much larger business which gave me confidence that Kevin new what he was talking about, Kevin gave me a quote which was less than half the cost of the other quote we got. A 1 came and did the work and also carried out some extra work at no extra cost, since it has been done we have had no problems and the walls have now dried out. Thank you for a great job and will be in touch soon ref our garage flat roof.

This is the second time now that I have had A1 Home Improvements undertake work for me the first was earlier in the year when they replaced all our Fascia's and Guttering it was a brilliant job so when we needed some windows I thought I would ask Kevin if he could do for us, we have today had them fitted even though it was a bank holiday it was the only day I could get of but it was not a problem for Kevin to do for me. I have found Kevin to be very professional and nothing is to much trouble for him, I will definitely use them again and would recommend to everyone, A small business with a large customer service.
As a next door neighbour we saw the complete cladding from start to finish of our next door neighbour and ended up ordering the same matching cladding done to the back of our house. Kevin has also supplied & fitted 7 sealed units to our conservatory which we were more than pleased with. We are also having a replacement glass canopy fitteded over kitchen door. Prices are so competitive with other firms and going by how our next door neighbour's cladding looks we cannot wait to have our done, plus the back of house will be a lot warmer due to insulation which is incorporated with the cladding.

I have had a lot of unit mist up in my windows and asked a lot of firms foe estimates but all seem very high, got Kevin's number form a friend and contacted him, he came to see me and the price he gave me was half that of my cheapest quote, had them all done and I am happy.

We have recently had a very bad experience with a Local company with home improvements and was reluctant to use another small business but was given Kevin's number and he came very highly recommended so we decided to speak with him and see what he was like, well we are glad we did he gave us a lot of advice and sorted out the very bad work we had been left with by the previous so called tradesman we are so impressed that we have asked him to undertake renewing the Fascia's and Guttering and have placed an order for new windows and two doors. Called for a quote for our roof that needed repairing. Kevin came around when he said he would and was very helpful and very competitive with his quote. The work was carried out very quickly and to our satisfaction. While he was repairing the roof we started to discuss weatherboard/cladding that we were thinking of having fitted to our render at the back of the house, to save us from painting it and also for extra insulation. Again he quoted us very quickly and competitively, the work started yesterday and it ended up not being a straight forward job due to a couple of incorrectly fitted windows. Kevin managed to work around this and the work was finished today! A brilliant job and the wall looks so much better, so much so the neighbours now want theirs done! Thanks Kevin...:)
We had a new front door and guttering replaced around our house.

Just had replacement soffits done by Kevin and his team. Brilliant job and price very competitive. They even did the work while we were away and waited till our return to be paid, after they were sure we were satisfied.

What started as a relatively simple replacement guttering and fascias job turned out to be a nightmare with rotten timbers underneath and battens that were no good. A1 kept me updated about the situation, advised me of the revised price given the extra materials and time it was going to take and just got on with it - the finished result was great and I was really impressed and would heartily recommend them to others in the future.
The work was completed in just three days in December 2015

We needed to sort a couple of problems with the firewalls on a Terraced house leaking and also tidy up the front of the property with UPVC facia and replace the Guttering.
Kevin arranged for a very competitive quote for scaffolding and tackled the job single handed. He did a good job cleared up all the mess and was very helpful throughout the who process advising on different options etc. He did exactly what he said he will do, no nonsense and on time.

I had a problem with a leaky roof and struggled to find a tradesman willing to answer his 'phone, let alone take a look at the job. Finally, after a recommendation I contacted A1 (Kevin) and have had the roof fixed. Punctuality, knowhow, cost and communication have all been, not just A1, but A1*. We have other properties and would certainly use A1 again.

After a true cowboy builder took a huge amount of money from us and left us with nothing but problems we had no option but to put our faith once more in a local tradesman.
A1 inspected the previous work, took photographs as evidence and gave suitable advice. They gave realistic options and quoted a fair price. Yes, there was an amount to be paid in advance but that was expected, we didn't presume that A1 would provide materials and labour for nothing!
The work carried out by them is to a very good standard, they were honest and up front and on time.

I engaged Mr Cross and his company to build an extension to the rear of my property.
I have been delighted with the level of workmanship displayed in all the aspects from digging and preparing the foundations, physically building the block work concerned and fitting and water proofing the roof. Always polite and upfront with the terms and conditions has enabled me to plan ahead properly.
