About Lords Roofing

September 2020
Three years ago we had a complete re-roof from Lord's including 2 valley gutters at a cost of £5000. On completion of the work 3 years ago I questioned the roofer from Lord's as to why I could still see the old bitumen felt on the undersides of the valley gutters nearest to the neighbours wall, I was told he didn't want to disturb it because it went over to next door's roof but assured me the new felt had been layed over the old. After the heatwave of July/August this year (2020) the bitumen felt expanded revealing that there was no new felt over the old felt and I could see daylight through the tiles. After speaking to Lord's on the 13/8/20 I was told I was lucky they were still trading after Lockdown, she also said that Trading Standards wouldn't do anything and that we would be put on the 'remedial' list - whatever that is. I reminded her that Lord's had only completed half of the job and that the roof was not water tight, this did not have any effect with the woman on the other end of the phone. After checking Trading Standards and Citizen's Advice websites, because I have entered into a contract with Lord's, Lord's needs to be reminded that they have not completed their contract and they need to return to the unfinished job and complete it. So I rang again to remind them of this on the 20/8/20. I was again told I was on the 'remedial' list and that someone would ring me back in 2 hours. It is now the 26/9/20 and I'm still waiting for the call back or anyone from the 'remedial' team to turn up and show a modicum of professionalism that their 10 year guarantee has promised. Also since then more mortar has fallen off the ridge tiles. So, to cut a very long story short, I have spent £5000 on a roof that will leak this winter and Lord's do not care. They have taken my money and not completed the job they were contracted to do. I have had a professional roofer come and have a look at Lord's 'work' and he gave me a list of how much Lord's did not complete the job, including not laying the lead flashing in the valley gutters correctly - yes you can see it from the attic, holes stuffed with loft insulation at the top of the chimney breast and the lead flashing around the chimney not being layed correctly. This is all on top of old felt not being removed and new felt being layed. If I could give 0 stars I would. Do not give Lord's your money and do as I did and hire a professional and qualified roofer in the first place because the 10 year guarantee and other certificates I was supplied with from Lord's don't appear to be worth the paper they are written on. Lord's, if you are reading this and call me to discuss it, at least I will have had a reaction from you. I have also included a photo of the standard of work £5000 will buy from Lord's.
