We are generally pleased with the installation of our new windows and doors. Some minor issues were sorted out quickly but it has taken longer to resolve an issue with our lounge window. This has now been resolved to our satisfaction. Thistle have been very professional in attending to any problems and have kept us well informed as to when their installers would be on site. Overall we have had a good experience with this company. One suggestion that we would make is that once installation is complete, someone contacts you to ensure you are happy with the finished product rather than you having to contact Thistle.
Overall experience good, however one issue pointed out to joiners before left initial installation not corrected at time and waited over a month for return visit. This period also included a no show from joiners without notice. Young joiner also charged mobile phone at house which I do not think is acceptable.

Amber very friendly and phoned a week before fitting to confirm fitting date. Doors arrived but backdoor had two glazed areas not top glazed and bottom panel as ordered, fitters said they would add this fault to their paperwork and be back to remove glass and replace with panel inorder to also fit the cat flap. Awaiting this to be rectified. Fitters understanding throughout too.

Excellent quality door, well fitted and delivered earlier than expected! Very happy with the service overall, from sales through to installation. Some small negatives but not enough to drop the rating, such as choice over inserts in glazed door was more limited than prior to agreeing the purchase, as was the requirement to remove a light switch which wasn't highlighted during the sale. that said the door makes up for these small niggles and it was worth the money. Communication with the installation team was also very good, often an area where a company lets themselves down. Only regret - not doing this a couple of years ago!

I don't normally bother completing reviews, but after my fantastic experience with Thistle feel compelled to do so! I got 3 quotes from various well known firms for some window & door replacements and the best and most competitive by far was from Thistle. They also offered to fix some defects in other windows fitted by another supplier years ago who could not be bothered to do so, as well as replace the fascia boards which were needing repair - none of the other firms mentioned this and all for the same price. The scheduling from Amber was superb - fitting around another firm fixing my flat roof and also helping when I had to change the fitting date at short notice when I was called abroad by my work. The fitting process was very professional and tidy and the quality of the products superb. I can't praise the team highly enough - try them yourselves and I'm sure you won't be disappointed if my experience is typical and I'm sure it is.

This has been a great experience and the quality of the windows and the work completed has been to an excellent standard. Part of one of the windows is to be replaced due to a flaw in the glass and this is on order. The installation has been done to a very high standard. The two fitters standard of finishing was one of the neatest jobs I have seen. Both very courteous and professional. The only outstanding work involving the roof-line is to replace a cracked tile which has been repaired" temporarily with sealant. This is to be completed when the glass arrives for the living room window which is still outstanding .Overall when replaced I can say I am very satisfied with the installation and quality."

We asked Thistle Windows to fit our Blinds & Curtain Rails after the Windows were fitted. My Husband is disabled due to a stroke and 9 suffer from arthritis, so were unable to fit them back up ourselves. This was a great help to us and great customer service from Thistle. Maybe the Sales Reps could offer this service to all disabled customers.

BAD DECISION - BAD CHOICE
My mother has been living in her home since it was built in 1965. In 2014 Thistle Windows fitted two new windows. The fitters were messy, untidy and careless damaging the walls as they fitted the windows. We had to get the decorator to repair holes in the walls, repaper and paint. A year later, 2015, a huge crack appeared in one of the windows from the top to the middle. Eventually, someone came and ascertained that the windows were quite wide and had not adjusted properly. A few more weeks went by until the pane of glass was replaced and frame secured properly. In January 2016 rain poured in both windows upstairs and found its way into mum's recently decorated lounge downstairs. Again, eventually a representative looked at the windows. Scaffolding was erected and it was found that the lead flashing had not been properly installed to stop rain seeping in. So this was repaired. Or so we thought. The lounge damage was repaired too. Then mum noticed that the ceiling in the vestibule had water marks so she notified the company again. Mum has tried twice to speak to Mr Bruce the Manager but this has proved fruitless. He's always in a 'meeting'. She has spoken to Andrew Cadman who told her it was 'human error' and everyone makes mistakes and that it was a very bad storm which caused the rain to pour in? However, the original windows NEVER leaked and for the 50 years mum has lived there she has witnessed worse storms! This has taken 4 months to rectify. We are really disappointed with Thistle Windows and mum wishes she hadn't bothered replacing the windows in the first place. One rep apologised for the errors and told us if we wanted to complain then we need to write a letter to Mr Bruce. Mum has not been offered any kind of compensation for the errors Thistle Windows have created. This is outrageous and we WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THISTLE WINDOWS TO ANYONE.

The installer, Stan, was on his own due to the other installer being ill, but continued to proceed with the installation of the windows and replacement doors, which he did to a very high standard, taking great care on each one, leaving them in a perfect finish.The house was left in a clean and tidy state at the end of each day.

As the Managing Director of Network VEKA, the standards organisation to which Thistle belong I would like to make the following observations with reference to the review by Mr Shearer. It is always a matter of regret when a customer, whether direct or indirect is disappointed by their products or service. Unfortunately issues sometime do arise. We offered to mediate and I spoke with both parties. It was confirmed by Thistle Windows and Conservatories that if all outstanding monies were paid they would be more than happy to attend any issues relating to the installation. Our experience of Thistle is that they are good to their word. Network VEKA commits to underwrite works done by our members that are paid for in full subject to our terms and conditions, thus offering consumers further reassurance.
The joiner John Scott was very professional in the manner he carried out the work.
Just had Venetian blinds fitted in our new summerhouse by Thistle windows, and we are absolutely delighted with the result. Special thanks to Nicol Meldrum, who we dealt with. He provided an excellent service , and was very professional & helpful, as we were undecided about blind type/colour. All in all, a job well done. We can certainly recommend Thistle Windows for blinds, and will definitely use them again!

I am having a problem with Thistle Windows in Aberdeen.
I have with held the final payment on a contract ( work done over 3 years ago) until they fixed a water ingress issue. They are telling me they will not do the repair until I pay the retention sum.
I have refused to pay until the work is completed properly.
Their argument is that if we pay they can then issue the guarantee and then come back and rectify the fault. I cannot understand how this can be legal as in my view there is no guarantee system that would guarantee a known faulty product.
On checking the Network Veka website I note that we should have been given a deposit protection certificate - which we weren't .
I have also researched online and found a worrying number of complaints against this company. Also it would appear that the remove any complaints from their own website.
Thistle have been back to inspect the problem and accept it is a botched job. The MD however will not allow them to fix it until I pay the £300 retention. I offered to put this cash in the hands of an Independant solicitor to be released to Thistle once the work was done to a satisfactory standard. they refused.
Conclusion - they are not to be relied on and probably not worth risking your cash with them if they treat customers this way.

The Thistle fitters did an excellent, efficient job and were very personable. Were very neat and tidy when on site. Talked me through what had been done, highlighted a couple of very minor things that had to be finished and showed me how everything worked. Had some minor building repairs completed within the week and came back and completed the job with no hassle/ inconvenience to myself.
