Don't ask them to rectify any faults as they ignore you and their guarantee is worthless as after only nine months we have problems and they just ignore us

Whilst I take no pleasure from writing this review, I do feel it is important that prospective customers are aware of the problems I have experienced… Could I recommend this company? Definitely not. Would I use this company again in the future? Definitely not. grpdesigns have supplied and installed 1 x aluminium two pane bifold door. First of all, the company has a serious problem with communication, communication between departments within the company and communication with the customer. As a result the surveyor was over two and a half hours late and the installation engineer also arrived over two hours after were told to expect him. My installation was promised on or before Saturday, 15 November 2014, late on Friday, 14 November we were advised it wouldn’t be taking place! On my instance it did take place on Monday, 17 November… however, because the installer was two hours late he ran out of daylight hours, he was also rushing and proved to be very careless as a consequence. The installation was appalling. I met my obligation and gave the installer a cheque as agreed. However, with the benefit of daylight and after a full inspection on the following day I contacted the company, basically to discuss the way forward. The next few days were not pleasant. For the first time in my life I felt obliged to contact my bank and put a stop on the cheque! At this point in time it is worth mentioning that I have copies of all the correspondence that passed between grpdesign and myself, I also have copies of all of the photographs that I forwarded to grpdesign. It wasn’t possible to photograph the scratches and cuts around the perimeter of both panes! I actually invited the directors or any representative to visit and see the appalling workmanship, begging the question “would you be happy if it was in your home”? That offer wasn’t acted upon; a member of management has subsequently told me that the photographs were adequate to demonstrate that the installation wasn’t acceptable! On Friday, 12 December 2014 two installation engineers arrived. The frame was removed for the third time and part of it replaced. Both damaged panes were replaced. The installation is now complete, I am now waiting for a plasterer to visit and make good the plasterwork; I appreciate grpdesign’s goodwill gesture having agreed to my request that they meet this cost. The contract was agreed 26 September and final installation took place 12 December, the period between those dates has been very trying… I repeat, could I recommend this company? Definitely not. Would I use this company again in the future? Definitely not. Proof if proof were needed… I received the following in an email on Friday, 12 December ‘Thank you for being so polite and patient during which must have been such a frustrating ordeal during your current trying times’.

We have used GRP Designs to design and build a 4m x 4m conservatory, to replace soffits and guttering, to install ten new windows and a back door and (the most recent work) to add a front porch to our house. Needless to say, we would not have continued to use GRP had we not been totally delighted with all aspects of their work. During the initial design stages, we felt able to contribute our ideas, with the designer listening to our requirements before coming up with excellent finished plans. Everyone who worked on the projects from ground clearing, foundations, building, glazing and plastering (all GRP employees, incidentally) was polite and professional, always checking details with us when necessary. They paid particular attention to details and always left the property in a secure and tidy condition. When we took a short break away from home, we had no hesitation in leaving them with a set of keys so that they could continue the work. At the completion of each job, we received a follow-up call to make sure everything was to our satisfaction and on the one occasion that a door lock needed a slight adjustment, they were quick to visit and put things right. As you may gather, we would have no hesitation in recommending GRP Designs to anyone needing this type of work.

We have used GRP Designs on 2 occasions, once to fit some windows and the second time to fit a conservatory. We have been delighted with the end result both times. The product is very good, the fitters were polite, professional and did a very good job, even cleaning up after themselves. We would definitely recommend GRP Designs to anyone.
