About Acorn Windows and Doors (Wales) Ltd

Sorry there are no posts yet.
Just want to share my experience of using Acorn windows in the hope that people wont have to go through what i have experienced: I have been involved in a 3 year battle with this company it has been a horrendous experience. My windows were fitted in 2011, having never had windows fitted before I wasn't aware of any regulations or paperwork that was supposed to come with the windows. It wasn't until later I discovered that new regulations mean that your windows have to be registered with FENSA and that you need the supporting documents when it comes to selling your house. When I realised this I contacted FENSA who informed me that my windows had never been registered I also discovered that the windows had not been fitted in line with regulations. I have spent the last 3 years writing to FENSA and Acorn in order to try and resolve the issue FENSA informed Acorn that they had a duty to deal with my complaint but every time I wrote or rang Acorn I would be fobbed off, I have since discovered that without the documentation I need I will have to pay for a building inspector to inspect the windows and issue a certificate should I ever wish to sell. Obviously I want to avoid this especially when Acorn were negligent by not registering the installation in the first place. The Director, has pretty much lied to me several times over the phone always coming up with an excuse why I haven't had my certificate. I have heard every excuse under the sun over the last 3 years and I still don't have my certificate. So not only were sub standard windows fitted but unless they give me my certificate I will have to face the possibility of 1. my windows being declared sub standard and not being signed off at all possibly resulting in having to buy new windows from a reputable company or 2. having to stump up to £500 to pay for a building inspector to visit and issue a certificate. Terrible quality, horrendous customer service and a director that lies continuously to a customer, do yourself a favour and avoid these cowboys. My next letter will be to trading standards, cowboy builders and X Ray.
