Wish I could read those reviews before I signed contract and paid deposit for fascia board replacement! I have been promised that work will be undertaken by highly skilled professionals, with proper access equipment to do the job. 3 guys turned up on the day, equipped with the ladders, dropped new fascia boards on the pavement and then walked all over it! I have specifically agreed that no ladders must be used, due to composite decking along elevation and potential damage to the property, as house is tiled on the 1st floor. Guy on the phone (presented himself as owner of the company) said they always doing it like that and no other options is available. Asked them not to do start anything if they can't do it properly. I'll have to take them to the court, to get deposit back, as they are not responding to my messages now. Horrible experience, avoid!

Do not go anywhere near this company or any of their variously other named associated companies. They are the most incompetent, disorganised people it has ever been my misfortune to become involved with. The owners of these businesses (Dan Crocker & Jake Crocker) are totally without any conscience at the way they treat their unfortunate customers. With the exception of two of their workers (Toffee & Taylor) they employ unskilled inexperienced people and do nothing to monitor the quality of their work; indeed, they wouldn’t actually know what constitutes a decent job anyway as examples of their own workmanship are among the worst! I will not bore you with the saga of our dealings with them, but briefly they were contracted to do cladding, fascias and guttering on my property and the two adjoining properties. It was an absolute shambles from start to finish (well actually it’s never been finished to our satisfaction). They are impossible to contact; never respond to emails or letters and rarely answer the phone. If they do actually give you any dates, just ignore them; as they do themselves! If you are unfortunately caught up in a contract with them do not pay them any more money until you are totally satisfied that they have completed the job, and even then withhold at least 10% for a minimum of six months to see what faults develop once they’ve left; as it’s otherwise impossible to get them to come back to rectify any problems. If you happen to read any other more detailed reviews regarding their appalling workmanship, disorganisation and total disregard for their customers, you can believe it all. If you happen to read an occasional positive review, then those customers were very lucky and probably had only ‘Toffee’ & Taylor’ on the job. Whilst I wouldn’t class them as ‘Rouge Traders’ in the sense that they are out to deliberately fleece you; they are just completely inept and incompetent. Their sales man (Terry Williams) is a very nice chap and very plausible, but he has no influence on the work that is subsequently carried out, he just works on commission. By-the-way, if you take the trouble to try to find their ‘office’ you will find them in a ‘wooden box’ at the back of the ‘Foam-cut-to size’ business in Sutton Road (SS2 5FB), one glimpse of their ‘office’ will tell you the whole story! Do not in any circumstances get involved with these people! NB: I'm happy to provide a copy of my contract with EFW but this site is not allowing me to do so?

I went with e.f.w. Because they were cheaper than the two other quotes I had but am now thinking it was a terrible mistake. Paid a deposit for two windows to be fitted with internal window ledges in February. Then had to phone them quite a few times for a date to fit. They missed the first appointment but made the second appointment in late April. They said the internal window ledges were not written on the quote so wouldn't supply, they broke one of the windows when they were fitting it and didn't mention it and put different sized trim around each window which was all scratched and looked second hand. As soon as they left I had a big job trying to rip it all off before the mastic dried and then had to go down mr plastics and buy a load of bits myself. I have called them countless times to come and fix the pain of glass they broke but they say they will be in touch then never ring back. See you in court soon e.f.w. ! Do not use this company, I feel annoyed there isn't a zero star rating as this is what I would have given them.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Do not hand over any money. I signed a contract and paid deposit in October 2017 for work in November 2017. Despite many phone calls by me and repeated promises from the firm about a starting date, nothing had been done by March 2018. I phoned, emailed and sent a tracked letter saying that they were in breach of contract, and requesting my deposit back. During more phone calls I was told that my cheque was being sent, but once again no action. After further calls, letter and email, I now have to go to court to get my deposit money back.

Don't go near this company, AVOID at all costs. Bad workmanship, missed appointments that they made with us. We had new windows, new backdoor, new guttering and soffits, also cladding and fibre glass a flat roof. the windows dont fit, the moulding around the edge of the windows is bulky and clumsy. The cladding is awful. The guttering leaked, The windows leak around the fitting. the cladding appalling and I can't see the fibre glass roof so I am hoping that is ok. i have never known a company like this, to be so bad at fitting and a total lack of communication after hundreds of phone calls, on one occasion Danial Crocker state three times he was going to come back and put right all the wrong. He never turned up and the last time he stated his van had broken down, i phoned the office and they said Danial was out working, so I said "in his van" they said yes., i asked so the van is not broken down, they said no, LIAR right there. He isa shady character and a Liar. We have had to pay again for someone else to put everything right. I would have preferred for them to take everything they have done away, and a money refund. But hell will freeze over before they would do that! They ask for money before the job is finished and run!

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! Essex Fascias & Windows (who are also associated with/run Essex Fascias and Driveways, Essex Fascias Windows and Doors, Essex Fascias and Orangeries) came to us in January 2017 to replace our gutters, soffits & fascias, clad the top half of our house and render the bottom half. We had problems with them from the very start when they failed to turn up on the first day, due to ‘staff illness’. The second day someone did turn up, a boy (well, young man, but very young), it was freezing cold and he was left on his own to remove tiles from our house by climbing up and down a ladder, which as it was icy needed someone to ‘foot’ it, subsequently he kept falling off, even our neighbour was picking him up! We only saw this lad for a couple of days. From then on the work was sporadic, you never knew when someone would be turning up and if anything would be happening. When it became apparent that removing the tiles would take a bit longer than they anticipated, more guys were put on the job, but in their haste managed to pull the soil pipe out of the wall and flooded our en-suite. This was in February. We finally got it fixed (by somebody else) in April. In addition to this they damaged our neighbour’s wall and broke their door screen, again despite a lot of promises we had to get someone else to fix it. The gutters, soffits and fascias were completed and the work looked OK (though in their sales pitch we were told they would remove the old soffits, not true, they went over the top). The cladding work continued with various issues which would have easily been solved by ‘proper’ builders, they just bodged it. We were assured in the sales pitch they would be putting up new weather proof membrane – lie. However the cladding was completed and it looked OK. The rendering basically never happened, we suspect because the fitters hadn’t left it in a state that could be rendered to, but we were told the renderer might be ill (they didn’t know), and that they were trying to find another one. It states on their contract that they ask for a deposit, and then no further payments until completion of works. Not true. We were hounded repeatedly to pay more money ‘up front’ and pretty much as soon as we finally made a fairly substantial overpayment, they disappeared, it was like one of the rogue traders programmes you see on tv. Our house was left half clad and in a state where water was coming in. Following months of phone calls not answered, emails not replied to, promises that someone would be round to do the rendering, someone else would be round to fix the damage to our en-suite, fix our neighbour’s property and no one turning up, we used the Consumer Rights Act 2015 to sever the contract, and to cut a long story short we took them to court. It has taken a year and has been very stressful but eventually we were awarded a CCJ and they were ordered to pay us in full, which they ignored. So we employed High Court Sheriffs (of ‘The Sheriff’s are Coming’ tv fame) we guess they didn’t want to be on tv as they paid immediately!!! So we’ve got our overpayment back for the work not completed and have employed a much more competent company to put right the ‘bodge’ and subsequently a decent renderer to finish off the job. Our house now looks great thanks to them, but there are still issues we would love to have resolved but it would have meant taking it all down and starting again, which we simply cannot afford. This company should not be trading. The director is the main problem, the fitters are generally nice guys and although very young do seem to know what they are doing, and they work bloody hard in often horrible weather conditions, but their boss lets them down. He cannot manage a company, he cannot manage his staff, he cannot manage anything. He has absolutely zero people skills and struggles to communicate (at all) with his customers. He lies his way out of difficult situations, refuses to answer his phone and would rather send someone else round to ask for money than do it himself. Countless times we were told he would be coming to help the fitters, when actually he’d turn up, shout at them for a bit, shout at someone else on his phone, then bugger off probably to some other site to do the same again. He is extremely unprofessional, shifty and evasive. He will make up stories and apparently encourage his staff to do the same – when speaking to the staff in the office (when you actually get someone to answer the phone), they will say they can’t get hold of him, or they will say a part has been ordered when it hasn’t, and they will guarantee, promise, ensure an exact time and day someone will turn up, and they don’t. This is just ridiculous as it would appear they expect customers to take valuable time off work to wait in for them and then not turn up. So many people will have lost earnings as a result of this behaviour and it just isn’t acceptable. When visiting the office in person his staff are all very defensive and their behaviour is frankly a bit strange, like they are hiding something, and they really don’t want you to be there. Why did we go with this company? I hear you ask… the sales pitch was very good, the sales guy was very nice, we always try to go with local firms and we fell for it, we fell for the lies and believed what he said was true, and for that we feel very stupid!! They were very reasonable and came across as very nice, friendly and competent people. Until the work started!! As a foot note for those people that our still waiting for work to be completed, we feel your pain (and I bet you wish you hadn’t gone with this firm!). Don’t worry help is at hand – The Consumer Rights Act 2015 covers what is expected of firms and as customers what you can expect from firms. Check it out on either the Citizens Advice or Which. As long as you follow the procedure you can get out of the contract, more importantly have a way of getting your money back and remember, a verbal quote is legally binding so the phrase; ”we under quoted you” is not a viable excuse. Don’t believe some of the made-up figures or vague references to Trading Standards Law that this director seems to peddle. If you have been messed around by this company the law can be on your side – good luck!!

AVOID THIS COMPANY! We have been waiting since June 2017 for some work on a balcony in our home. Numerous no shows, loss of work days and only to have them show up to take old balcony down and have not returned to finish work. We have cracked panels on the conservatory ceiling below balcony, rain water seeping down into conservatory and damaging the floor. They don’t answer telephone and Dan Crocker is never available. Staff at the office ,when they pick up telephone are full of excuses and no action. They have moved premises and have refused to give us new address. Terrible the feeling we are left with and the additional damage to our property. We are taking action to recover all cost under the Consumer Protection Act 2015. Suggest all other dissatisfied customers do the same and contact the Citizens Advice Bureau .

I have now read the previous reviews, and wish I had done before I agreed anything. Mine is not as bad as some of the horror stories - but that remains to be seen as not finished. After agreeing a new front door and side panel, front cladding and new downpipe I was advised a 4 week wait. Now I know this to be fairytale stuff. I have already had one no-show and causing me to lose a days salary. Today was the next start date - turned up this time and the plan was to fit the door as that was the part that required me being there. They started to strip the old cladding as the door and frame were being delivered. Long story short, no door was delivered, they left after 2/3 hours, seemingly to chase it up. For me to get a (rare) call from EFW to advise there is a problem with the door. (so now I know that the door actually wasn't available on the first date despite giving me a different reason for no show) They never returned and left my property in the state shown in attached pics. Don't get me wrong, I don't think this is to do with the guys that were doing the work (I think they knew I was going to be super mad) and the small bit of cladding done looks like it will be great - I will amend this post if everything is resolved pdq. Who leaves a property in the state? They are impossible to communicate with and it always appears to be someone elses fault. Frankly I don't care - I made a contract with them, not their suppliers and it they who should COMMUNICATE as that is the essence of everything that could avoid hard feeling and waste of people's time. They are disorganised, impossible sometimes to contact, never respond to anything. Beware.

Our cladding was supposed to be done mid November, but was put off till 4th December by them because they kept giving us a date but not coming. We agreed 4th December and they promised to be there and give us the whole week - their words. They did arrive that date but only for a couple of days, and a couple of hours per day. The work was concluded a couple of days before christmas. I say concluded because its not finished. There are several issues unresolved. They have sent a maintenance team that did a couple of bits and promised to be back the next day to finish but never returned. We now cannot get hold of them. We try ringing every day - several times a day, but says all lines are busy, try again later. We have left messages when allowed, but no one returns our call. Not a happy customer. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. Love the cladding.

3 months after deposit paid and waiting weeks for a start date a big No show this morning. I asked for deposit back & miraculously they are sending someone to start this afternoon! Unfortunately the negative and true reviews appeared after I had paid deposit and alarm bells rang. Dan guaranteed these negative comments were not true. Unfortunately they obviously are! Will come back and amend if they prove me wrong. VERY WORRIED.

December 2017
Used Essex Fascia’s and Windows to build a new porch, replace my facias, guttering and lay a block paved drive. To sum this company up in the few words I have available, I found them to be unreliable, unorganised, untrustworthy with a lot of their work being below an acceptable standard. My list of issues is far to long for this review but as examples, they thought it was acceptable to fill a cavity wall up with concrete and also bridge the damp course. They damaged various areas of the property and tried to cover the damage up. They used an unqualified person to deal with my electrics leaving them in a dangerous state and us without lights downstairs for 5 days and failed to return to fix the problem or make it safe so left me to foot the bill to get it sorted. They did not dig my porch foundations to the correct depth as agreed on the drawings, then just filled it full of hard core and not concreate and they would have continued the build had I not spotted it. They had to dig a part of my new drive back up but put it back in a worse state and not with the agreed pattern, and despite several attempts to fix the problem my drive still does not drain properly. Guttering leaked and flowed to wrong way in places with the downpipes screwed up wonky. What made all these issues worse is It took them 8 months to complete a job that was quoted as taking only 6-8 weeks, they missed countless appointments and deadlines and even left us wondering if and when we will ever see them again after they left my property in a mess and a half-finished state with no work being done for nearly 4 months. When they did turn up they would often only stay for a few hours saying they run out of materials or did not have the right stuff then disappear for days on end. I found they will do things their way regardless of what you agreed, so in the end we had to make compromises. The job is now complete and a lot of the issues got sorted eventually but these are only what I spotted and they left me wondering what they got up to while I was not watching them. As for the outstanding bits I will be getting them done myself as I do not want them anywhere near my property again

The job should have been completed in 6 weeks instead of 4 months(front and rear cladding + rear door), they would give me all sort of promises but never turned up for the arranged appointments( waited all day long for at least 8 appointments). When they changed my door the alarm sensor from the door has been removed and disposed of and had to Pay £80 for the alarm company to repair it. There is still few snagging jobs that should have been completed by the company, but because I have paid them in full, now they didn't bothered to turn up for 3 appointments to resolve this issue. This the worst company I have ever had to deal with.

After four missed appointments we have given up on this company finishing our work. They started work on our guttering and fascias then after removing a piece from the front of the house said it was more complicated and would need us to pay an extra £450. We reluctantly agreed as didnt like the job half done. They had previously also agreed to replace a canopy which they constantly seemed to 'forget about'. Three times after taking days off work, we were phoned after 10am to say they werent coming as someone off sick. Today they again didnt show despite being told we were top priority. I have never known a company so bad at communication the fitters didnt seem to know what work they were supposed to be doing and the Office phone was usually on answer machine. We feel totally let down by this Company and will not be recommending it to our friends who need similar work. We now have a patched hole in the front of our house and half done work to get done.

Shame to have to write this as they did a good job of my cladding and rendering and the workers were friendly and tidy. However, ordered a new front door from them which they said would take 5-6 working days to arrive so would be fitted around a week after the cladding was finished . Three times they said they were coming to fit it, so three days I took off work waiting for them. You call the office and they don’t answer, you call the owner and he doesn’t answer or reply to texts. So unprofessional. I even drove down to find their office and couldn’t find it. In the end I left an answer phone message to tell them I no longer wanted the door. Didn’t even get a call after that so they are obviously not bothered! Will not use them again.

I had Soffits and cladding fitted in 2014. Initially the price increased supposedly because the salesman made a mistake! Since that time the cladding has fallen off a number of times. In recent months dispite the 10 year guarantee EFW say they will come along and fix the problems but they never turn up. Not good news!

I had my roof, padio and windows done by these guys. Before the work I took a few quotes and had it from a sales guy called Terry, he came round and seem to know exactly what I wanted after a chat. There was a few bits around the back I wanted doing but he advised me it was unnecessary and agreed with my wife and even though they could have made more money they seemed more interested in making sure we were happy in the long run than just getting us to buy everything. Once the work was due to start the guys doing the building work showed up early and all seemed very polite (for builders lol). They seemed to know what they where doing and other than the cups of tea my wife and I offered them they seemed to want to get on with the work so I let them do just that. The work was even done a day before they said it was going to take.. I did notice one small issue but called up the office spoke to a lady and it was sorted with in an hour . I sent all the guys a create of beers for the work and a job well done. My wife could not be anymore happy, she is hard to please so thanks very much Guys!!

We have used EFW at two properties now and have always found the installers to be very pleasant and tidy on the job. We recently had a conservatory added to our house and we are over the moon with the results, it's really opened up the house and let light into other rooms as well. Would recommend EFW without hesitation
