About Target Windows

Sorry there are no posts yet.
July 2023
Had 2 lots of windows installed over 5 years ago. They only guarantee windows for 5 years just after the 5 years the windows went cloudy they would not do anything, Other companies give 10 years. The instalment was bad we had them back at the start but they would not do anything. Would not do business with them.

Company Response

Just to clarify the warranty situation with the products we supply and install, of which you would have been given supporting documentation at the time of placing your order, the double glazed units are covered by a 5 year manufacturers warranty, upvc frames 10 years, hardware carries a 12month warranty . This is generally the rule of thumb within our industry. Apologies if this wasn’t explained clearly at the point of sale. Let me know if we can assist further.

Dear all September 2015 I too have had a bad experience with Target Windows and Conservatories, they state on their website not to price high then reduce to think you get a good deal, they did the opposite with us, the day before the installation of our soffits and fascias we got a call from them stating they wanted exactly double the price or they would pull out of the contract £1200 to £2400. I said I would not pay and asked them to honour the original price which they refused and said they did not quote for the full property only the lower level, I sent them the quote/ agreement clearly stating cladding of all fascias and soffits. I even spoke to their surveyor who stated that all the soffits and fascias were included so what else could I have done To my disappointment they tried to say that we were confused and did not make it clear what we wanted even after presenting the document which clearly states all soffits and fascias. I feel let down by a company who state they are a local family business, I would not recommend this company and advise the people of Staffordshire to be aware that this could happen to them. I will be contacting the relevant bodies who may be able to put a stop to this companies working practices which will hopfully avoid other clients being treated this way.

Company Response

I am a Director at Target Windows and we have been trading for almost 30 years. We are a family business and we try extremely hard to keep our customers happy. Having never canvassed, or knocked on doors for new business, I am very proud of our reputation and the fact that we have thousands of happy customers who do our advertising for us. Mr Platt was given a price for some work at his property, however unfortunately there was a misunderstanding at the point of sale, and he thought we were doing alot more work than we had actually quoted for. We tried to explain to Mr Platt that it was a simple misunderstanding, and we re-quoted for his requirements. However, he became very aggressive, threatening to report us to various bodies, also stating that he had alot of clout with some very important people, and we should stick to our price unless we wanted to our business to suffer, and he personally would make sure our business would suffer if we didnt co-operate. Out of goodwill, we refunded Mr Platt's deposit, and put him in touch with a local contractor who carried out the work for more than the price we had originally quoted, so I would say it was quite obvious there had been an error, as Mr Platt agreed to pay the revised price to the contractor. I think Mr Platts comments are unfair as the error was genuine, and my company went out of its way to try and rectify this once it came to light. Jane Basnett- DIRECTOR

I had work done in 2010, due to a house fire, the insurance company used this company. I urge! Never use this company, its 2013 now, and im still calling them back! Its a no star rating from me, here are my list of things, that was never done from the very beggining, hardly no windows sealed, caused whistling and draft, french doors dropped, kitchen window, I could see daylight, through the gap master bedroom, lots of movement, not fixed to anything, breaking seals. Could not open windows as locks not fitted properly. Now to top it all off!!! My landing window not bin sealed at all, so rain coming in my house, causing damp patches, and wretched my wall paper.

Conservatory - Rectification Problems This company built my conservatory. Prior to signing the contract they were informed of the soft ground conditions. Their contract stated that ‘Foundation requirements will be subject to ground conditions. Any deviation could result in extra costing being required.’ They also indicated that typical foundation depth would be 450mm deep with a concrete strip foundation 600mm wide by 225mm deep. After suffering various cracks in the structure, which were repaired, the company employed a surveyor who reported problems with ground conditions - the conditions I had informed them about before proceeding! Surveyor did not actually check the footings. I found the footings to be only 270mm deep, some 180mm less than what was stated as their ‘typical footing’ and on soft ground so should have been deeper. I commissioned a structural engineer’s report which advised all footings to be underpinned. After submitting the report to the company they were not prepared to accept the professional advice and only offered to underpin just two corners thereby risking the remaining structure to stress and further cracking. So the company failed, in the first place, to provide the ‘typical’ or even the appropriate footings for the conditions, would not accept the recommendations of a qualified structural engineer and offered a ‘reduced’ solution so posing further risk to the structure.

Company Response

I would urge Mr Nash to update anyone who reads his comments. Rectification works have been carried out by Target, and might I add that as a company we cannot be held responsible for problems relating to poor ground conditions. We have traded successfully for almost three decades and pride ourselves on giving a first class service, going the extra mile to keep our customers happy.

From first visit to show room, then Barry who came and gave us a quote no problems, no pressure selling, advised what would be better fittings, glass etc. Two chaps Andy & Ian who carried out installation arrived on time, work completed in time scale agreed. Excellent standard of work, polite and cleaned up after themselves. Very happy with work carried out and quality of product, would highly recommend to friends and family.

From the minute we contacted Target Windows in Stone we have had nothing but praise for the company. The sales representative visited our property and measured up, we then received a quote which we excepted as this was £1500 cheaper than our last quote from another supplier. We then had a visit from the companie's surveyor to check all the measurements and then received a call from head office with the installation date again which we were happy with. Two installers turned up on the day who were very polite and got stuck in the job straight away. If anyone else are as lucky as we were to have Mark and Craig who installed all our windows, patio doors and front door in the time stated of three days you will be 100% happy with your installation and quality of the windows etc.

I ordered replacement front door and 3 windows from Target, we have used them before and always very satisfied with their work, keen prices but we don't buy on price alone, you usually get what you pay for and we have previously experienced cheap prices with poor products with another provider. Fitting date booked and fitters arrived on time and came across a very professional. The job was completed within the agreed timescale and fitters cleared up thoroughly before leaving and made sure we were satisfied with the job before leaving. I would gladly recommend them.
