When requested for a date of completion the reply was the company is dissolved and is liaised to Britannia group.I understand from my initial research that both companies are owned by Mr. Haydon Rishton from Jersey which makes sense as from the first mail all the mails highlight and tag Hightech as a part of Britannia group. I requested the office of Britannia to kindly coordinate and sort it immediately as winter is round the corner and I had been waiting for the work to be done since long. They were non responsive and non compliant.
It is totally unacceptable, unethical and unprofessional response from them.
I also reached for the Certass insurance company however high tech is no more registered with them.Besides, since the work was unfinished the insurance company was legally not initiated to help.
Hightech still has a active website and share the same logo as Britannia.
I have got the screen shot of the chat history, the mail history, the voice call recording and payment history. I have referred high tech to insolvency service and the next step is take it to citizens advice service for now.
Therefore, please be mindful before approaching this company as I don’t want anyone else to be coned by same company holding different names and cheating people of their money.
Thanks
Having heard good things about High-Tech Windows (Cheltenham), part of the ‘Britannia Windows’ Group, we contracted with them to have a porch and large conservatory fitted to bases and stone walls built by our builder. The Salesman was excellent, came up with a design we liked, the estimate was high but acceptable, so we signed contracts with them. The contracts signed in July 2021, were headed with the High-Tech motto, “Design, Craftsmanship, Attention to Detail and Service” – most of which have proved absolutely totally lacking, during their shambolic installation which commenced 10th January 2022, was going to take just 2 weeks - and is just completed now, in June 2022. Beware the fact they ask for 90% payment up-front, before starting installation – doesn’t leave you with much bargaining power in the event of problems!
The total lack of communications, the totally unprofessional and careless behaviour of the fitters and surveyors, the internal disagreements and buck passing between employees of Britannia, the lies told to us to cover errors and faulty workmanship, have made this project a nightmare and caused us a great deal of unnecessary aggravation, anxiety, stress, additional expense and worry. They had an almost complete failure of their own administrative systems, failed to properly sign off the project specification, order the design that was contracted for, check sizes etc. A lot of the initial build ended up in the skip. They did eventually, after us hounding Britannia head office, take responsibility and attempted to replace and remedy the majority of their surveyor’s and fitter’s mistakes, caused by their failure of internal and external communications, lack of care and poor workmanship. It is a very sad reflection that we never received a single phone call or letter during the project failures from management at High-Tech (if there is any), to either apologise or explain what was going on.
In the end of the day, these contracts have not been properly fulfilled, despite all their efforts to correct the errors of their surveyor and fitters. Essentially, we have been left with a ‘second rate’ not a ‘first class’ installation. We have a Porch that has its windows 45mm off the stonework, because the fitters were too lazy to either chip off the small high area of stone on the porch door base, or ask our builder (who was quickly available) to do the work, This was despite the previous assertive statements of their salesman, that the fitters would compensate for any such problems with the natural stone. We have a conservatory with a ‘patched’ rather than replaced, previously leaking box-gutter, which is still a constant source of concern and worry for us.
Also, we now have absolutely no confidence at all in the ten year ‘guarantee’ issued by High-Tech, as High-Tech clearly has not sufficient manpower resources or skills to deliver any sort of guarantee service at all. Also in the future, it is not certain that other branches of Britannia out of the area, will leap to the rescue of High-Tech and sort our problems, should further defects or problems occur with our contract.
Our attempt to obtain some sort of refund or discount due to the delay, faults and stress and additional expense caused, have been met by a stony silence, leaving us the only option of perhaps taking them to court, another stressful and expensive procedure.
So, High-Tech Windows, great design, totally hopeless everything else! If you want sleepless nights, constant worry, to be left absolutely and totally in the dark about what is happening with your job, to be completely ignored in the middle of internal squabbles between Britannia employees and fitters, have to spend days of your time and money consulting independent surveyors and solicitors to try and work out what they have done wrong - then High-Tech Windows (Cheltenham), part of the Britannia Windows group - is the conservatory company for you!
We had our conservatory fitted by Hi Tec.
Whilst it was fitted on time, it was the most basic and flimsy product. My main gripe is that their slimy sales person did not point out the possible better options for my home.
The other gripe is that for many months after completion, they continually phoned our main line phone to ask for more orders.
That caused us to switch our phone on to silent mode indefinitely.
Feel free to ask for our PHONE RECORD'S.
Our phone remains that way after two years.. Thank you Hi Tec . Also FEEL FREE TO CALL at any time.
This company is dire.
Sincerely, James.
I don't normally submit reviews, but my experience with this company has been so awful, and I've given them ample chance to redeem themselves before I write this, and they've taken no notice.
The one and only reason this company gets any business is the 0% finance. I didn't need it, and the fact that they offered it (plus a 'discount' if you signed straightaway) rang huge alarm bells with me, but I still went with them as I wanted my terrible, unsafe doors sorted. Huge mistake!
I had my front and back doors replaced, so not an insignificant project and therefore revenue for them. Firstly, it was a really long wait, between the salesman's visit, and then the surveyor's appointment, and finally the the day of fitting.
The fitting day was arranged. Looking at all the correspondence, I could find no indication whatsoever of how long this may take.
Fitting day came and went, they failed to turn up. To be fair, I'd changed my mobile number. But they had my email address, and knew where I live (obviously) but didn't bother to go to the trouble of trying to track me down.
Eventually they turned up. Instantly I was advised that my front door had been fitted with the wrong glass. I had ordered frosted glass, but the fitted glass was clear. The fitters advised me that the glass would be refit so it was still advisable to go ahead with installation.
The fitters left. My front door handle, I then discover, does not work. It sticks, so that both opening, and locking, the door is really difficult. I feel like an idiot every time I enter or leave my house. I have to spend a good few minutes wrestling with the handle. I am sure all my neighbours are thinking, wow, those doors are brand new. How ripped off did she get?
I have of course contacted high tech about this. They have informed me that they will be back to fit the glass in two weeks' time. They will sort the handle then too, apparently. I had asked for some form of refund for all the trouble, but they have simply ignored my request.
I have replied asking them to at least sort the handle sooner - it's so bad, and worsening each day, that I'm really worried that soon I will be able to either open, or lock/unlock the door. So far, they have ignored that too, as I've received no response whatsoever.
Of course, something so basic as the handle clearly being faulty, has caused me to now worry about the overall quality of the doors.
I don't want anyone else to end up in my situation, hence the review. As it stands, I have a two week wait for the inconvenience of the subsequent visit to replace the glass. That's of course, if they turn up this time.
This is most definitely a company that takes your money, and runs. I am kicking myself for not listening to my gut when the salesman first came to see me. Ask yourself, if a company delivers a quality product at a good price (they are very expensive!), why they have gone into business with a finance company. And why they put the additional pressure on of the discount received with signing up straight away. You live and learn! I hope I can avoid someone else the hassle I have had. In short - AVOID. Avoid, avoid, AVOID!!!
Have used this company several times over the years with good results. Went back to them end of 2016 to have a conservatory updated with a modern roof system. A very expensive job which is now nearing completion. However the service has been terrible…..I mean really woeful.
Customer service is all about keeping a customer informed, keeping promises and do what you say you will do. Regrettably High Tech have lost track and forgotten customer service. As far as communications are concerned utterly dreadful. All communication is left to the builder on site.
Even after complaining and agreeing an appointment date for fitters to be on site, giving seven days’ notice nobody arrived till gone 12 and gone by 2:20 work was shoddy and rushed. We took a day off work for this and two weeks later still need work done having seen nobody.
A sad reflection of what used to be……would I use again……NO.
Sorry High Tech you really need to rethink who your customer is and who pays the bills.
The above reviews are the opinions of the individuals submitting them and not necessarily a true reflection of the performance of this business. We therefore disclaim all liability and responsibility arising from any reliance placed on them.
