One word sums up this company Cowboys. They take your money and disappear there 15 year guarantee is a waste of paper.
We had a conservatory built in 2016 and have had a consistent problem with the roof leaking. We have had endless problems with Halifax Windows who despite repeatedly promising to sort the problems have only made it worse. In June their fitter broke a roof window pane while trying to make it watertight and despite many promises to fix it and many failed appointments they have still not done so. The conservatory is full of buckets collecting rainwater and because I gave a bad review on Google they are now refusing to repair the damage they did. The last thing I heard from Lorna Hitchen (the director) was "take us to court". This is their idea of customer service. We are now having problems getting reputable firms to do the repair work because of the shoddy nature of the whole roof construction. AVOID HALIFAX WINDOWS!
I've used Halifax Windows for years and under the previous owner, they were very good, but recently I had a window fitted by them and noticed a gap between the window and the wall.
I was told I have to pay £35 for them to dig up old if I can't find my warranty, but upon looking for it, I found it and sent it to them.
The service guy came a few weeks later and said the window should have been fitted with restrictors which is normal for bedrooms, so he'll have to order some in and come back to fit them and I said if he's going to do that it's easier than taking the window out to to fix it and then take it out again to fit the restrictors, so he might as well do it at the same time as fitting the restrictors.
I then rang to chase this up about a week later and was told the orders haven't been processed and will be done in another weeks time - in the meantime, I got a letter asking for £50 for the fitting although I had been quoted it to be free.
I rang them up and they told me "bottom line is, you have to pay £50 for the restrictors" so I said i'll leave the restrictors as these cost a few quid on ebay anyway, and have the repair done - they agreed to that and then cancelled it and told the service department "not to bother" because I posted my experience on facebook and when someone commented with "jokers", I replied with "pricks".
Maybe I shouldn't have, but maybe they shouldn't have quoted me a free restrictor fitting and then changed their mind as well.
If I had done some research on the company before ordering, I would have seen other negative reviews as well but I relied on my previous experience with them under the previous owner, who sadly passed away a few years ago.
Where do I start.......easy - DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY (or Halifax Windows as its now known).
I had a complete fitting of all new windows, doors, patio doors and roofing trim/edges in April 2015.
Since then I have nothing but issues of which I have had to call them out to "try" and fix. Some (low)lights of my experience:
- Door was not fitted right and was sticking. 4 different people came out and on the last occasion a senior fitter managed to bring at least the right tools for the job and fixed it.
- Peak of roof fitting came off after around 3 months. I had to log the job with the customer service girls (ahem!). I clearly stated it was the peak of the roof. The fitters turned up with ladders that only went half way up the house! They came back weeks later with right gear to glue it on.
- Each time you log a new call to fix their shoddy work you have to either send or take in a copy of the guarantee......JUST KEEP IT ON THE SYSTEM!
- Latest issue (outstanding) - A different piece of roof fitting fallen off. Learning from my previous experience I clearly stated they would need scaffolding or very long ladders to fix....guess what...they turned up with wrong gear. Then said they would come on x day and never turned up. This has been going on for over 8 weeks. They promise call backs and letters - no a forthcoming
Do yourself a favour....pay a bit more for a much better customer service experience should (or should I say when) you need contact them to fix their work
I urge people to take note of the negative reviews, if I had it would have saved me a lot of stress and money!!
Messy work, terrible customer service. I have been waiting nearly seven months for Halifax Trade Widows to complete a job they have been paid for. Damon is very unprofessional he has no regard for his customers.
I was given a very cheap quote off Damon for the fitting of five windows, pvc inbetweens, fascias and guttering.
The workmanship reflected the quote, cheap.
The two man crew arrived on a Friday at 11.30am and had left by 2.30pm having fitted all five windows very badly, placing mucky buckets on the beds.
Upon complaining, a representative came out to look and the conversation with him showed me they had no clue what they was doing, stating "if the glass is packed up, it will fix my tilt/turn window."
The fixers arrived back the following Monday and removed two of the windows again and refitted them, to somewhat of a better standard.
I will say these ones don't leak, the ones that weren't removed both leak.
I am in the middle of an house renovation and they have halted all work on the house.
I have rung several times to point out the issues which are a broken tilt and turn window, leaking windows, troughing that someone drilled a hole through and plastic trim that has fallen off. This has been nearly four weeks ago. No ones been and no one has phoned.
Needless to say there not coming back nor would we have them back. I will get another company to come in repair the work and bill the company themselves.
Stay clear of this company,
Appalling work,
Appalling communication.
Would like to thank Halifax Trade Windows for my brand new facias and soffets. I've never been happier with everything from the service all the way to the very end. A big thanks to Damon Hitchen who saw the job through from start to finish and made sure every need was attended too.
I'd highley reccomend these to anyone who wants good quality work at a realistic price
I have used halifax Windows many times over the years. They have done an excellent job every time. I would recommend this company.
Happy with works carried out today, 2 composites and a window very good products , high quality materials , also me and husband happy with the price. Would be happy for them to do work for relatives and friends
All in all, a great performance from start to finish.
On a recent trip to India with my family I left my property in capable hands of Halifax trade Windows. They had completed 15 windows and 5 doors (note our house is very large) Including 4 velux & 3 cut outs windows. They had done a really good job and was so pleasantly surprised when we returned home on a few days before Christmas. After a log drive from Heathrow, me and my husband were looking forward to seeing the completed works. We were over the moon with the works and the fitting people had even left us a Christmas hamper on the kitchen table to make our arrival. Everything was spotless to the point i needn't of worried about cleaning up. They have shined for me and as a Company Director myself I feel is important to leave a positive review for businesses as they have really looked after us.
I have recently send a thank you card to the company
I purchased 2 new windows and a door from Halifax trade windows.
I was happy with the standard of items and the installation.
The staff all seemed friendly and the work was finished efficiently. The fitters also caused little mess and were thoroughly in cleaning up after themselves.
Very Happy with my composite rock door from Halifax Trade Windows.
Would like to say thanks to Stu & James for the great fit.
Will be more than happy to recommend in future to all friends and family.
Thanks.
I have been over the moon with the service and products i have received. Damon Hitchen the Managing Director came out to give me a quote and his right hand man Tony measured my products up properly.
I enjoyed speaking to all the staff who were all so down to earth. I have also uploaded some pictures to the website of the porch i received. The workmanship between the fitters were impressive also.
I would reccommend these to a friend as they have been round for so long.
Thanks
Jane Crawford
Halifax
10/10 for Halifax Trade Windows. I don't think anyone in the Calderdale area can compete with them no more. After seeing their set at a Calderdale Landlord Event I knew I could rely on their trusty team to keep my properties secure and also keep the price low for us landlords.
I could not disagree more with the above review. My purchase from Halifax Trade Windows was smooth and faultless. Both times. Family and friends have also used the company for a variety of things from doors to conservatories and all have had a great smooth process. I found all the staff to be friendly and honest, and would say there is defiantly a 'family' aura about the company. I would recommend Halifax Trade Windows to anyone.
