About St Andrews Home Improvements

Sorry there are no posts yet.
February 2018
St. Andrews Home Improvements. (20/06/2017) Whilst working in the garden, we were approached by a man (who it turns out was a lead generator for St. Andrew’s Home Improvements) advising us that he was offering a no obligation quote for replacement double glazing windows and would we be interested. We hadn’t thought about it before, but decided as it was a no obligation, then yes we would. After receiving a call from a call centre to confirm this, an appointment was made for later in the day. At 6pm the sales rep appeared, and after spending 2 hrs “Dazzling Us” with how reputable the company is and all the big named companies that they put to shame, quoted us £13160 for five windows (Window sizes 3 at 2000 x 1700 1 at 1000 x 1400 and 1 at 1300 x 700) However due to “Government Legislation” we could get a rebate for recycling our old units which would bring the cost down to £9870. Then he asked if we would be willing to become a “Showcase” by allowing photographs to be taken before and after and allowing an advertising board to be placed in our window around the size of an A3 for a few weeks and he could then discount us to £8264 I asked him about the scrappage scheme and was informed that due to new government regulations to reduce peoples carbon footprint on older window units (more than 10 years old) the government is offering a rebate of up to £2000 to replace the old windows. Of course as everyone knows (that is everyone who has done their homework) there is no such government scheme and in fact ASA are investigating several companies for using this lie in order to hook customers. When I challenged the salesman on this, he was adamant that it was genuine. He asked if I would be interested in accepting their offer and since he liked me, he felt sure he could get me a further discount, at which point he went back on his phone and gave a complete run down of everything discussed, and then came off the phone saying that as a special he could offer me the full package for £7650 but that I would need to take the offer today as this was a special and couldn’t be held. The salesman had now been in my home for three hours and despite many repeated requests for him just to leave the information with me in order to think over, he still persisted and called his boss again, this time offering the full package for £6450. I then had to threaten to call the police and have him removed from my home if he didn’t leave at which point he held his hands up and said that he was only trying to look out for me and get me a once in a lifetime deal so that I could enjoy the benefits of the best double glazing on the market that no other company in the UK could match. However as he was leaving, he was on the phone again, and then came back with the, okay, I get commission on each sale, so I have just said that I will forego my commission if you sign up now, and my boss has offered a final discount also which would give you the package for a shocking price of £5850. He left to take the sample window unit out to his car, but my wife then noticed that he had left all his paperwork on the coffee table, so clearly he intended to come back to carry on where he left off. I closed the door and locked it and threw his papers out of the window. The time was now 9:40pm and he had been with us since 6:00pm I was drained; I couldn’t cope with it all and ended up with a blinding headache. Then today (21/06/2017) The telephoned me and began the hard sales tactic on the phone, promising to beat the cheapest price we had been quoted and give us a further discount to make up for the inconvenience of having suffered at the hands of the salesman. I politely told them where to go…
