The customer wanted a patio door placed between the living-room and a pre-existing conservatory. A Low-Threshold Patio was provided at the request of the customer so as to avoid a trip hazard when walking from one room to the other. The floor of the living room is not stable due to the foundations between the house wall and the conservatory being removed, we assume by the people who built the conservatory. This causes the sliding door to dip under the upper frame as the weight travels across the threshold. Engineers from ourselves on two occasions and from the manufactures on two occasions, at one time clamps being fitted, have all reported to the customer that the foundations need to be stabilised.

All customers were provided with Insurance Backed Guarantees which included Deposit Protection in the event the company ceased to trade. This is a requirement of the FENSA scheme of which Olympian Windows Ltd. was a member. In this instance the customer was unaware of the Deposit protection and we are saddened that this has caused distress to this customer. The Deposit has now been returned to the customer from private funds.

FENSA passed the windows. FENSA asked us to return to seal over expanding foam underneath the patio door cill. Expanding foam when exposed to direct sunlight can break down overtime. However, foam under a cill is not exposed to direct sunlight. Nevertheless, we agreed to return, take photographs of the sealant and once FENSA had seen the photos they agreed to issue a FENSA pass certificate. Mrs Astridge had a copy of the FENSA report and knew what was required to pass the installation but refused to allow Olympian to return to complete the job and refused to pay for the doors. Her comments regarding us being a cowboy outfit is unfair and spiteful. Over the 20 years Olympian Traded we had over 5000 satisfied customers who all paid for their installations.

The GGF are the owners of GGFi, a provider of Insurance Backed Guarantees. The GGF are also the owners of FENSA, an organisation that insist that its members give these guarantees. This customer was provided with such a guarantee. I find it difficult to believe that The GGF would claim that their own insurance is a scam. I have contacted GGFi who have confirmed that this customer has not made a claim against his insurance.

The installation was carried out with the up-most care and attention. However, the customer had a small list of issues. The customer claimed damage had been caused to her bedroom floors. I found a number of small scratches which may or may not have happened at the time of installation. I offered to remove the scratches but the customer refused saying that she wanted a professional to sand down and re-varnish both her entire floors at a cost of £450. The customer asked me to come to a financial arrangement with the bill which I refused but continued to offer to attend to the scratches myself. The back door lock required adjustment and was not bowed - this was completed during the installation. The customer found fault with the rendering under her windows. There was slight damage to the rendering during the course of installation which was corrected. When requesting payment the customer refused without her husband present and asked me to return on the following Wednesday. On the Monday I received a phone call from the customer saying that the patio door was leaking . I attended immediately and tested the doors and found no leak and the drainage system to be working as designed. I again asked for payment and the customer refused. The customer has paid for her windows but still refuses to pay for the patio doors.

Olympian treat all customer concerns with the utmost importance and seek to speedily resolve all issues. However, in this instance, after explaining to the customer that we do not produce a separate Guarantee certificate and that our guarantee commitments are printed within the Terms and Conditions of the contract a copy of which is supplied to all customers, this customer refuses to accept this situation. I am glad to read that apart from the Certificate the customer is very happy with the "nice new windows" and the work that was carried out and I would like to take this opportunity of assuring her of our commitment to her installation in all other matters.
