Differently avoid, we instructed Kings Driveways to replace an old tarmac drive with a concrete imprinted drive, basically two cars width replacing an existing step into the front door, and a section to be filled with gravel, the work commenced as agreed, arrived on time and professional until the day the concrete was laid, from then on it went downhill fast. Firstly, the initial design was not followed, we specifically wanted a level line against the front of the house and a step linking our neighbors, each house in the road sits at different heights approximately two brick heights going from one end of the road to the other, we didn’t have the straight level line expected but a slope which is very noticeable, no step between our neighbors but one sweeping drive which we didn’t want. The second issue was rather than a flat step we were left with what can only be described as turtle shell in fact the slope drops 40mm over the width of one and half house bricks, poorly fitted with gaps between the house and step. We addressed this with Carl to basically be told that’s how it is, he did explain why the slope was linking our neighbors but this wasn’t agreed and we could of confirmed what they were doing before it was laid, no contact was made or confirmation what was going to happen before it was too late, each morning before work I explained any problems I can be back home within 5 mins. He wouldn’t even look at doing the step again until I had to offer to pay more money to rectify their poor workmanship after almost two hours of discussions, Carl didn’t seem to be looking at the same step I was ! (I’ve taken pictures if anyone would like to see them) The final day which was sealing the concrete, a payment was left from the original job of £200.00 I stated once the step was completed we would issue the £200.00 payment along with the payment we offered to put the step right, I was told pay the £200.00 now or I’m not coming back, great customer service. We have now had the step refitted at a cost of £200.00 which I agreed, the overall workmanship is questionable. The payments for the job are heavy weighted at the beginning, and payment is expected before the work is actually done, so the concrete pour payment is expected before it’s done, leaving you very little option but to continue with the work if you’re not satisfied.
