Company Response
I must comment on this report as a representative and project manager for QKS. I was contacted by the customer in question with regards his concerns over the fitting of his worktop. We take any allegation of "incorrect fitting" very seriously. As such at the time when this was mentioned we immediately upon report of this concern visited our client to inspect the workmanship. On inspection we found that the fitting was to the highest standard. The reason for the large gaps reported at the back of the worktop (considered poor fitting) was that the original tiles which were removed by the customers themselves (or others). In removal of the tiles the original plasterwork also came away. As this had not been repaired fully prior to our arrival we found ourselves fitting to an unfinished wall. All worktops were of the same depth as those removed and all worktops were fitted to the correct dimensions in relation to the door fronts. We were also faced with walls that were not built square and were also slightly bowed. These were all issues that would be easily rectified by the wall tiler who was booked to follow our work. Communication with the third party tiler to reassure the customer was carried out and agreement was made that the walls needed repair by means of packing out the adhesive and tiles.. The customer thanked us for our time and paid his final satisfaction balance without further complaint. Our fitter did not break the old tap but found that when he tried to reinstall it the tap thread would not permit a permanent tight fixing to the sink and if fitted would have been loose and unstable. This was discussed and shown to the client at the time and was accepted through demonstration and that a new tap would be required. The original tap supplied by a local DIY store was not the type of quality tap we regularly use. The client preferred to replace this again form the same original outlet. We waited until the client had provided this tap to ensure they were not left without use of the sink and taps that evening. We made no extra charges for having to wait for the client to go and get a replacement. To summarise there was no incorrect fitting and the first we knew about this comment was upon reading this, in our opinion, an unfair review. I hope that this has show that there are always two sides of the scenario. We are an established Kitchen provider and installer serving Stamford and surrounding areas for the past 31 years.
