A Kitchen Freshen up
This customer in Lanarkshire had plans to renovate the whole house, but hadn't got round to thinking about the kitchen yet.The kitchen had a lot of wear and tear, and they were thinking about getting some new appliances anyway, so they arranged for one of our designers to some around. This customer choose the Walnut finish as it was in contrast to the old light coloured kitchen.

Transformed into a stylish functional kitchen
This customer had a small and dated kitchen that was not suitable as a family kitchen. They asked us to open it up into a much larger, brighter and more sociable room. By using our popular shaker style door in white and contrasting worktops the room is instantly made brighter and much more modern. This young family can look forward to personalising their kitchen and completing the look.

A Modern classic finish
This kitchen in Leicestershire was given a modern makeover with a minimalistic edge. The storage was re-structured adding a larder and appliance unit instead of the old wall units. This left the food preparation and hob area seeming more spacious and open. The choice of door is a stark contrast in colour, brightening the overall finish. The classic 'Tuscany' door is a classic style, and integrating the appliances tidies up the room nicely. The customer kept the decoration simple which really suits this light door and walnut woodmix style worktop.

Time for a change
This customer's kitchen was 22 years old. They decided it was time for a change and needed a more modern update. Our designer modernised the room by using contrasting door colours and worktops. Also the customer was in need of some extra storage space. By adding some extra units above the conservatory hatch and a breakfast bar this is one happy customer.

A Timeless design blending classic and contemporary style
The space in this room was not being used to full advantage, and as you can see from the "before" pictures, the room was quite dark. The dated kitchen furniture had too many colour and texture variations and made the room seem quite "closed in". We helped the customer fulfil the potential of their room, creating a bright space for living, working, eating and storage. Our designer worked with the Mr & Mrs Ford to make the most of the space and create a design that will last for years. The great thing about this new kitchen, is that the "slab" style door never seems to go out of fashion, and should stand the test of time whilst appealing to a wide variety of tastes. This means that if in future you go want to sell your home, the kitchen will be a definite plus point and might even give your home the edge in a competative marketplace.
August 2019
Back in February this year we agreed for DM Design to install our new kitchen, which was a combination of replacement doors and new units. At the time of the installation, we had to change the type of lighting we had selected as the sales agent had not advised us that the units we had picked had no underlip and the lights we selected would have been clearly visible and would have detracted from the look of the kitchen. Our lights were replaced with LED strips, being the only acceptable solution. At this time I contacted DM Design to ascertain about a refund, thinking that the LED strip would have been substantially cheaper that the £270 lights originally selected. I was advised that the LED strip was more expensive but that DM Design would bear the cost of this, since it was their fault. I didn't make an issue of it at the time, given the lighting costs were a very small part of the overall cost of the kitchen - £12500. How wrong was I to believe these people. I have since discovered that the LED strips retail on Amazon for £19.99. This however is not the main reason for this review. A few weeks ago my wife noticed that back of the island unit was damage at the base. Two of the corners were starting to bubble up. She emailed DM Design with some photos, but got no response. I contacted customer services and was asked to resend the same photos. Three days later, I received a response saying that their manufacturer claimed the damage was not delamination, as had been suggested by their customer services representative, but was in fact due to water ingression and that this was not covered by their guarantee and there was nothing they could do. I responded indicating that my contract was with DM Design and not their manufacturer and it was their responsibility to remedy this problem. I pointed out that I was at a loss anyway, how someone could assess damage as being due to water ingression without examining the product or inspecting the site. The nearest water to the damaged areas is over 2 metres away, so not sure how I can get water from the sink to the back end of a unit on a continuous basis - their own manufacturer said that water ingression damage would only be after a sustained period. The kitchen was installed 5 months ago. The response I received from the customer services manager was appalling. Not sure if he even knows the definition of customer services, but in any event he maintains that we caused the damage to this island unit because if the damage had been present at installation, they would have noticed it. Not sure of his flawed logic but will comment further on that later. He also reiterated that the water ingression damage was our problem and that the manufacturer had commented on water areas on the tiled floor in the photos we provided. This is totally laughable. We have a two toned tiled floor consisting of dark brown and light brown tiles. Not light brown tiles and tiles made to look dark because of some fictitious water on the floor. This would be apparent to anyone who visited, but that is something DM Design customer service does not do. The manager claims that their product is fine and that we have somehow caused this damage. Who in their right mind would damage their own kitchen? It is patently obvious that the kitchen is not fit for purpose and in any event to suggest that water damage would not be covered is completely inane. Perhaps DM Design do not realise that kitchens, by their vary nature have water in them. However to suggest that we have caused this water damgage is completely unacceptable. The actual damage is not water damage. We have had the kitchen inspected by another company and they have confirmed this. They have also confirmed to us that the island unit we ordered is not in fact an island unit, but merely a base unit with a backing stuck on, and one that on closer inspection has not been stuck on very well. We have also been made aware with other defects with the kitchen. It would seem that we were too trusting of DM Design and their agents claims of great customer care and there being no need to worry about any faults being fixed. The kitchen is not fit for purpose but DM Design refuse to come out and examine their faulty product or provide any proposals for fixing their faulty goods. They have their money so it's my problem is their attitude. My advice is never ever use this company. Their attitude to customer care stinks. They blatantly lie and refuse to entertain genuine claims relating to their faulty products. DO NOT USE THEM.
